Search at Apartment of BPF Secretary Andrei Sarotnik

At 10.30 p.m. on 31 January a search was carried out in a private apartment of the secretary of the Belarusian People’s Front Andrei Sarotnik. The head of the central council of the party Uladzimir Kishkurna was in the apartment at that moment.
First three persons entered the apartment. They presented themselves as policemen. Then five more persons in mufti came in. They said that they need to search the apartment. As a result they seized office equipment, data carriers and some books and some booklets.
Andrei Sarotnik and Uladzimir Kishkurna were taken to the police department of Tsentralny borough of Minsk, and kept there until 3 a.m. The activists of the4 party hadn’t been explained the reasons for detention.
The leader of the Belarusian People’s Front party Vintsuk Viachorka told to RFE/RL that he views these facts as a pressure on his party members.
