Supreme Court Suspends Consideration of Liquidation Case against Party of Communists of Belarus
We should remind that the Ministry of Justice has applied to the Supreme Court with the demand to liquidate the Party of Communists of Belarus for non-presentation of lists of the party members to it. At the trial a representative of the Ministry of Justice Aliaksandr Kharyton insisted on suspension of the hearings due to new circumstances in the case.
In his interview to RFE/RL the chair of the Party of Communists of Belarus Siarhei Kaliakin said: ‘The Ministry of Justice considers as a new circumstance a warning which it issued to the party on 4 February. The court has upheld its position in this respect. To my mind, these two things have nothing to do with each other and the court was to have stopped the case, as the lists of members were passed to the Ministry of Justice on 16 October 206.’
