Viachaslau Siuchyk’s Brother, Scientist Kanstantsin Lukashou Is Kept in Investigative Isolator for 7 Weeks Already
On 19 December 2006 the police arrested Kanstantsin Lukashou for alleged ‘evasion from interrogations’ on a criminal case that has been brought against him for ‘resistance to the police’ (in March 2006 he took his brother, political activist Viachaslau Siuchuk out of a hospital, thus depriving the police of the possibility to detain him). All Belarusian human rights activists consider this criminal case a politically motivated one.
In his letter from the jail Mr. Lukashou wrote that the charges against him are even less groundless than accusing a deaf and dumb man of shouting anti-state slogans (a case registered by Belarusian human rights activists in the end of the 1990-ies). Nasha Niva newspaper asked people to direct letters of support to the prisoner on the following address:
To: Lukashou Kanstantsin Valiantsinavich
