Minsk: Trial of Kanstantsin Lukashou Is Going on

A criminal case that has been brought against a scientist Kanstantsin Lukashou, opposition activist Viachaslau Siuchyk’s brother, under article 364 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (disobedience to the police) is considered at Minsk Leninski borough court. Mr. Lukashou is accused of having knocked down a policeman on 29 March 2006, when taking away from a hospital his brother Viachaslau Siuchyk. Kanstantsin Lukashou doesn’t take the blame and states the case has been fabricated. Today’s court sitting was attended by his relatives, human rights activist, representatives of diplomatic missions and journalists. However, not all interested persons managed to get to the court hall, as the police overlapped the entrance short before the beginning of the trial.
