Public Association for Research of History of Political Repressions Is Established in Belarus

The organizational committee on establishment of the new public association consists of the scientists who mostly research the history of political repressions. A candidate of historical sciences Nina Stuzhynskaia was elected the chair of the organizational committee.

The initiative of the establishment of the organizational committee of the public association of independent historians belongs to a candidate of sciences Ihar Kuzniatsou who has researched Stalin’s repressions for quite a long time already. ‘The necessity of such association was perceived during the last years, especially when the Supreme attestation commission of Belarus started prohibiting the defense of dissertations related to such topics. Many historians had to give up the topic of political repressions in Belarus. That’s why today it is necessary to consolidate the efforts of the Belarusian historians with the aim to oppose to the official historical science,’ Kuzniatsou commented.

It’s worth mentioning that during the lasts year such scientists as Iauhen Anishchanka, Andrei Kishtymau, Tatsiana Protska, Henadz Sahanovich, Nina Stuzhynskaia and Siarhei Tarasau were fired from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences for their scientific views.
