Investigator Fails to Interrogate Katsiaryna Kazak in Presence of Lawyer

In the afternoon of 21 March the investigator of Minsk Savetski borough police department V.Breski summonsed Katsiaryna Kazak for interrogation. According to Kazak, he tried to pressurize her: ‘He said he hoped very much that I will come and tell everything as it was, asked where I studied and hinted about unpleasant consequences’, the girl said.

Katsiaryna Kazak came to the interrogation together with the lawyer Pavel Sapelka. The investigator disliked it so much that refused to conduct the interrogation in the lawyer’s presence (which is guaranteed by the Belarusian legislation). As a result he composed a report, in which the girl wrote that she refused to be interrogated without her lawyer. On parting the investigator said he would probably summons her once again. May be the next time he’ll be ready for talking in lawyer’s presence?
