Natallia Starastsina Asks Prosecutor General to Punish Riot Police

In her application N.Starastsina states that at about 8 p.m. on 19 March she was in Kastrychnitskaia Square together with her friends and relatives. On the crossing near the circus the riot police forced us to turn t the left, to Ianka Kupala Street. All this time we were followed by the policemen. I walked slowly, as I had ill kidneys and can’t go quickly. Three riot policemen in mufti went after us. They started pinching me and Aliaksandr Uryuski. Then they started kicking us across the legs and backs. It continued till we crossed the street and went into Ianka Kupala Park.
I didn’t violate the legislation of the Republic of Belarus by being present in Kastrychnitskaia Square on 19 March 2007. I had no flags or posters in my hands. I ask you to explain why physical violence and insults with foul language were used towards me by the people who are assumingly workers of secret services…’. The names of numerous witnesses who can confirm these facts are enumerated in the application.
