Political Prisoners Released from Akrestsina
Today 6 political prisoners will be released from Akrestsina detention center. The people were arrested preventively before March 25. They all were charged with disorderly conduct. The policemen claimed in court the activists used curse language.
Uladzimir Halavan was released at 12.30 p.m. today. He spent three days in the jail. Anton Piyeu, Alexander Stsepanenka and Aliaksei Ruban will also be released today. They have been arrested for 5 days.
Political prisoners appeared ion Akrestsina detention center 5 days before the Freedom Day. Police detained the activists on the streets of Minsk and examined all the things they had with them. The police seized the flyers and took the activists to Akrestsina jail.
Despite the fact that all the detentions were done with violation of the new Administrative Code (the policemen were supposed to invite passers-by to be witnesses of the misdemeanor), the judges did not stop any proceedings.
Andrei Ihnatovich, Alexander Atroshchankau and Barys Haretski will stay in Akrestsina jail. Alexander Atroshchankau’s wife Daria Korsal is concerned about the health of her husband.
Andrei Ihnatovich and Alexander Atroshchankau will be released on March 29. Barys Haretski will come out of jail on April 2, reports RFE/RL.
