Opposition to Pass Draft of Small Constitution to European Commission for Democracy through Law

At today’s sitting the national executive committee of the united democratic forces adopted an appeal to the chair of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rene van der Linden. The committee asks him to initiate the consideration of the draft of Small Constitution of Belarus by the European Commission for Democracy through Law, better known as the Venice Commission. This commission conducts expertise of different juridical documents and issues remarks and recommendations.

The draft is to be passed to Mr. van der Linden by Iryna Kazulina, Anatol Liabedzka and Aliaksandr Milinkevich. All of them were invited to the spring PACE session which will begin on 16 April in Strasbourg.

Small Constitution is an alternative main law that covers the basic fields of the life of the Belarusian society.
