Young Front Activist Siarzhuk Huminski Sentenced to 12 Days of Jail
Youth activist Siarzhuk Huminski was tried by Orsha city court on April 17th, despite the official day off. Judge Siarhei Bondarau found him guilty of disorderly conduct. Under the court decision the youth activist is to spend 12 days at the temporary isolation ward, reports Charter’97.
The police detained the Young Front activist on the evening of April 16th.The official reason for the detention was his alleged state of alcoholic intoxication and swearing in a public place. However, the medical examination didn’t prove the alcoholic intoxication. The only witnesses in court were the policemen who had detained the activist.
Huminski’s colleagues believe his arrest is a preventive measure – so that the young man can not participate in the Chernobyl March action. The local activists submitted an application for permission to hold the Chernobyl Day action on Saturday, April 28th. Siarhei will be released only on April 29th.
