People Continue to Come to the Square in Salihorsk
On April 16th Salihorsk residents came to the square again. They held portraits of political prisoners and the disappeared people. Despite repression by the authorities and the fact that the previous two actions had been dispersed by Minsk riot police, about 50 people took part in the action, reports Charter’97.
This time the riot police were not here. The action lasted for 15 minute and ended without any incidents. One of the regular participants of the Solidarity actions comments on the raction of passers-by:
-- It’s interesting that the Solidarity actions happen on the square every month for over a year. Besides that, the whole city is regularly covered with flyers about the political prisoners and political persecution of civic activists. However, there are many people in the city who still don’t know why we are standing here. But the overwhelming majority knows why we come to the square every month and supports our efforts.
