Picket against Dismantling of Monument to Soviet Soldiers in Tallinn Held near Estonian Embassy in Belarusian
According to Interfax
About 100 persons gathered for an authorized picket near the Estonian Embassy in Minsk to protest against the dismantling of the monument to Soviet soldiers of WWII in Tallinn. The picket participants stand under red Soviet flags with hammers and sickles and the official Belarusian flags (former flag of Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, designed in 1948). Among the posters are the following: ‘Estonian fascism is a shame to the EU’, ‘Requital will follow for suppression of Russian-language speakers’, ‘Shame on Estonian grave diggers, last-born children of SS troops’, ‘I don’t buy Estonian goods ‘cause I’m against fascism’, ‘Return the monument to liberators to its place’.
According to the action organizers, Minsk city executive committee sanctioned such pickets on daily basis till 10 May. It would be also good if our authorities sanctioned oppositional actions as eagerly as they did in this case.
