Initiative Group of Organizational Committee of Movement for Protection of Rights of Chernobyl’s Victims Established
On 13 May in Salihorsk a meeting of representatives of Belarusian intellectual circles took place within the frames of Choice for Belarus project.
As the chair of the organizational committee, correspondent member of the Academy of Sciences Ivan Nikitchanka said to BelaPANё about 40 residents of Salihorsk and salihorsk district took part in the meeting with the chair of Chernobyl commission of the BPF Party Yury Meleshkevich, the activist of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party Hramada Uladzimir Nistsiuk and the candidate of economical sciences Leanid Zlotnikau. ‘We discussed the reasons of the contemporary situation of the country’s economy and the possible ways out of it, human rights violations, ecology and the plans to construct a nuclear power station in Belarus, the consequences of Chernobyl accident, the internal and external policy of Belarus. Besides, the meeting participants were familiarized with the decision on establishment of the organizational committee for protection of the rights of Chernobyl’s victims, dated 19 April,’ Nikitchanka commented.
