The European Union called on Belarusian authorities to free its political prisoners, including Zmitser Dashkevich.
Germany, as chaircountry of the EU, once again recommended Belarus to start an adequate dialogue in the framework of the European policy of neighbourliness’. The statement stresses that the possibility of cooperation depends on the Belarusian government and its ability to meet the obligations of respect towards the democratic values and human rights.
The EU thinks that a dialogue is possible only after Belarus introduces democratic reforms.
