Pastor Antoni Bokun Denied Medicines in Jail
At 11.50 a.m. on 6 June the Protestant pastor Antoni Bokun was released from jail. He was met by the family, the bishop of the United Church of Evangelic Christians of Minsk region Siarhei Tsvor, friends and journalists.
Tsentralny court of Minsk sentenced him to 3 days of jail for ‘unauthorized mass action’ (liturgy). Mr. Bokun said that the first day of imprisonment passed quite easy, because he spent it in the same cell with the students who protested against repeal of benefits. The last two days were a bit harder, as the priest was surrounded with dipsomaniacs.
According to the informational center Evangelic Belarus, in jail the pastor suffered from high blood pressure as the police didn’t accept the necessary medicines. That’s why an ambulance had to be called for.
