Leninski prosecutor’s office of Mahiliou refused to bring a criminal case against the policemen who on 22 May beat the public activist, disabled Siarhei Hirkin. The prosecutor’s office ruled to consider the police actions as legal.
However, Leninski police department of Mahiliou confessed that some facts which were described in Hirkin’s complaint were true.
On 22 May S.Hirkin distributed the bulletin Right to Freedom. Suddenly some policemen ran up to him and pulled him into a bas. At the police station he was informed that he was detained for identification. On his release from the police Mr. Hirkin registered the beating.
