BSDP Hramada to Run in Parliamentary Elections 2008
Belarusian Social Democratic Party Hramada made a general decision to participate in the elections of the Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, which are to take place in the fall of 2008. Anatol Liaukovich, acting chairman of the party, made that statement to BelaPAN. According to Liaukovich, the party can run candidates in all 110 districts of the country. However, he pointed out, BSDP Hramada will participate in the elections as a part of the United Democratic Forces, i.e. all the candidates will be coordinated.
“The party organizations have already been recommended to begin preparations to the political campaign of the parliamentary elections. In particular, they are to determine the candidates to become members of election commissions of all levels and possible candidates to the Chamber of Representatives”, -- Liaukovich said.
According to him, the election campaign will be combined with the struggle for release of the political prisoners, as well as for the electoral rights of the citizens, abolition of the contract system, and revision of the legislation on benefits and the freedom of conscience.
