Criminal Case against Activists of Union of Poles Reopened
Police reopened the criminal case against four activists of the Union of Poles, which is not recognized by the authorities.
Veslau Keuliak, Yuzef Pazhetski, Andrzei Pisalnik and Andrei Pachobut are suspected of intimidating Viktar Bohdan – director of Dom Polski (Polish House) in Shchuchyn.
The criminal proceedings were instigated in August 2005, when the authorities divided the Union into two camps, claiming the leadership headed by Anzhalika Borys was illegitimate.
Part of the Union of Poles members, including Viktar Bohdan, decided to support the authorities. The criminal case was continued several times, the four activists were not allowed to leave the country. Later the proceedings were suspended.
Now the criminal case is reopened. Soon the four suspected activists would start receiving summons from investigator of the regional police department.
