Wiesenthal Centre's Director for International Affairs, Dr Shimon Samuels, has addressed Aliaksandr Lukashenka with an open letter to express his indignation at the fact of free distribution of anti-Semitic editions in Belarus.
Recently Mr. Samuels has visited the Museum of World War II in Minsk and was shocked at seeing anti-Semitic books in a kiosk close to this place. He even enumerated these books in his letter and demanded from Lukashenka to ‘officially condemn anti-Semitism and ensure that on from sale the printed materials that defile the memory of Jews and Belarusians who fell victims to World War II are withdrawn from sale’.
