Mikita Sasim Arrested for 10 Days
The press-center of Charter’97 managed to talk to the youth leader Mikita Sasim on mobile phone. Sasim said that he was detained by people in mufti. They seized him, twisted his arms and threw into a car. They behaved very rudely, tore his shirt, hit him in the back and legs several times and threatened to beat him.
After the detention the activist was taken to Tsentralny district police department of Minsk and put in a cell, where he spent the night. This morning the activist saw a detention report – he was charged of ‘petty hooliganism’ which allegedly manifested in dirty swearing. Nowadays the Belarusian police actively use this article of the administrative code for justification of politically motivated detentions.
Sasim was judge by a judge of Tsentralny district court of Minsk Tatsiana Pauliuchuk, who found him guilty and sentenced to 10 days of jail. The policemen Vadzim Kruchanok and Siarhei Matlok played witnesses at the trial.
