Brest: Court Punishes Two Participants of Meeting with Pavel Seviarynets
On 4 September Maskouski district court of Brest tried two participants of a meeting with Pavel Seviarynets at the local BPF office. Participants of the meeting at which Seviarynets presented his two books were detained and taken to the police station.
Since 30 August the court has already considered five cases against the meeting participants. Three cases were returned to Maskouski distrct police department of Brest for correction. What concerns other two cases, according to a human rights activist Raman Kisliak, Yury Bakur and Liubou Pranevich were found guilty under part 1 of article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (participation in unauthorized action). Bakur was fined 93 000 Belarusian rubles (about US dollars) and Pranevich was warned.
