Svetlahorsk Pro-Democratic Activists Summoned to KGB
On September 25th local activist Telman Masliukou was interrogated as a witness in the criminal case against Young Front. The interrogation was carried out in the local department of the Committee for State Security (KGB). During the interrogation Masliukou did not agree with the definition “illegal printed materials”, which KGB officers tried to include in the testimony describing the editions confiscated from Arsen Yahorchanka.
Criminal case # 07064320087 against Young Front was initiated by Homel region KGB department. On September 16th, police searched the apartment of Arsen Yahorchanka, 17, resident of Svetlahorsk. This year he graduated from secondary school and became a student of European Humanities University in Vilnius. During the search the police seized a laptop, a system unit of a desktop computer and different printed materials. Several months ago Yahorchanka was interrogated by the same KGB department as a witness in the criminal case against other members of Young Front.
Before the interrogation began KGB officers told Telman Masliukou that after the search of the apartment Arsen Yahorchanka left for Lithuania and did not come to give evidence. Telman Masliukou is a post-graduate student in EHU. He told KGB investigators that he knew Yahorchanka personally, but he had know idea if Yahorchanka belonged to the unregistered organization, or not.
The interrogation was carried out by interrogator Aliaksei Shahinau, in the presence of head of the department Alexander Yu. Praletkouski. A. Shahinau gave the summons to Masliukou the day before interrogation. The interrogator tried to give the summons two days earlier but Telman Masliukou refused to receive it as it came after 10 p.m.
