Viktar Ivashkevich Condemns Police Hooliganism

On 12 October three policemen in mufti were watching the entrance of the central office of the Belarusian People’s Front Party in Masherau Strret (former Varvashenia Street) in Minsk. They illegally searched those who went out of the office and confiscated from them informational materials about the upcoming opposition’s action European March.

‘Sometimes they act as petty hooligans. When an elderly woman came out with a Narodnaya Volia newspaper in her hands, they snatched it out and ran away,’ said the BPF deputy chair Viktar Ivashkevich.

After this incident the politician went out of the office to speak with the policemen. ‘I managed to persuade them that Narodnaya Volia and the printed materials ‘What the EU can give to Belarus’ were published legally’, Ivashkevich said.
