Authorities try to intimidate and isolate entrepreneurs and political figures before rally
The protest rally of entrepreneurs will start today at noon on Kastrychnitskaya Square. Before the entrepreneurs’ rally the authorities are trying to intimidate and isolate entrepreneurs and political figures.
On Saturday many activists of civic movements and political parties received summons to interrogations by police. Such summons were handed to UCP deputy chairman Ihar Shynkaryk, BPF deputy chairmen Viktar Ivashkevich and Ales Mikhalevich, and Barysau activist Leu Marholin. Active entrepreneurs in Baranavichy also received summons to come to local police department on Monday, January 21st. This is how the authorities are trying to neutralize the activists and prevent them from participation in the protest rally in Minsk.
Today UCP activist Aleh Korban is to stand trial. Korban was detained on Saturday near Akrestsina jail. Together with his friends he came to give parcels to their colleagues who had been arrested earlier. The policemen accused him of using foul language. That day six people were detained near the jail. The others were released later during the day.
Young Front members Ales Krutkin and Tatsiana Bulanava from Mahiliou received summons to come to police as witnesses today.
In Svetlahorsk entrepreneur Uladzimir Zmitrovich is under trial for participation in a rally on January 10th. BPF Youth press service reports, many of their members noticed surveillance this weekend. Police officers visited Nasta Aleksandrovich at home. They wanted to hand summons to come to police station to the girl.
