Patients of Tuberculosis Hospital Promise New Action of Protest
Patients of the republican tuberculosis hospital Navayelnia (Hrodna oblast, Dziatlava district) promise to start another hunger-strike, apply to NGOs and foreign organizations. The head the bureau for organizing of medical aid, head of the research institute of pulmonology and physiatrics said: ‘Everything is alright in Navayelnia, only the patients who are former prisoners are to blame.’
‘We ask the press, and your newspaper, for support, because we have no one else to apply to – the state fences itself off from us,’ wrote Navayelnia patients to Nasha Niva. They informed the newspaper about their intention to start a new action of protest. ‘We are ready to block a road to make us noticeable. We have no hope for state organs, we will apply to NGOs and foreign organizations.’ According to the ill, they have already been supported by representatives of oppositional parties and movements. Their demands remain the same: to permit walks in the adjacent forest, to let them out to the local shop and get normal nutrition in the canteen.
