Trial over ‘European March’ Organizers
Savetski district court of Minsk started hearings on the lawsuit of the state enterprise Horremautador against the organizers of the mass action of the opposition European March, held on 14 October 2007.
The plaintiff considers that it lost about 2 million rubles (about 950 US dollars) because the action route was changed – instead of going to the Banhalor Square, the usual place to which all oppositional actions are transferred by the authorities, the people decided to go to Kastrychnitskaya Square, situated in the very center of Minsk.
Only a part of the action organizers came to the trial, namely Viktar Ivashkevich and Anatol Liabedzka. Yauhen Afnahel, Zmitser Khvedaruk and Aliaksandr Milinkevich are absent. Even those who came consider the pretensions of the state enterprise a complete nonsense.
