Two Homel opposition activists detained during a rock concert on March 14 are in prison.
According to BelaPAN, Zhukouski and Tulzhankova are accused of hooliganism and are likely to be kept in prison till the trial, which is due on March 17.
Kastus Zhukouski said that he had been detained by two policemen and two men in mufti for distributing postcards advertising the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian People’s Republic. ‘They pinioned my arms and knocked me down, so I thought they were gangsters’ – says Zhukouski. After that he and Maryia Tulzhankova were taken to Minsk Tsentralny police department.
The police refused to explain the reasons for the detention. At around midnight they were taken to city drug abuse clinic for a drug test.
