Edvard Balanchuk gets searched on the border again
On Monday, 26 May, the human rights activist from Maladechna Edvard Balanchuk was detained for the second time this month, this time – at the border crossing point Kamenny Loh.
On 1 May he was detained at the crossing point located near the city of Brest, for more than ten hours. The customs officers confiscated from him the money for ‘examination’. On 26 May he was detained only for 2.5 hours and no money was taken away.
After the detention in Brest the human rights activist directed complaints to the Prosecutor General and to the chairman of the Customs Committee. He believes that this correspondence will continue, because such actions of the customs officers are a manifestation of persecution and pressurization applied by the authorities because of his human rights activity.
