Brest: Yury Bakur complains to UN Human Rights Committee
Mr. Bakur decided to apply to the UN Human Rights Committee after going through all court instances of Belarus with complaints against the verdict of Maskouski district court of Brest, by which he had been fined 93 000 rubles (about $43).
In his complaint to the UN Human Rights Committee Mr. Bakur states that he considers his detention and administrative punishment as unlawful and considers them as an attempt to punish him for his political views.
Bear in mind that the activist was detained at the office of Brest oblast organization of the BPF Party, where an open sitting of the council of Brest city BPF organization and presentation of Pavel Seviarynets’ book Letters from Forest were taking place. All in all, 28 participants of the presentation were detained. 15 of them received administrative punishments.
