In 2007 the Belarusian mass media wrote that on 31 May 2007 a blast took place in the apartment of a 21-year-old student. The student got numerous injuries of palms, right foot and thigh, traumatic shock and fractures. In particular, such information was distributed by BelaPAN, Nasha Niva and some other media, (including http://bntu.info) with reference to the main police department of Minsk city executive committee.

The explosion took place as a result of the chemical experiments which were conducted by the student. The police confiscated from him a PC, chemical equipment and a notebook with notes on producing petards. Kastrychnitski district police department of Minsk conducted a check-up on this fact. The chemist got a term of conditional imprisonment.

There are some reasons to think that it was the student of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio electronics Aliaksei Sheleh.

At present the police are keeping about 10 persons under arrest in connection with the blast which took place in the morning of 4 July at celebration of the official Independence Day. One of the detainees is Tatsiana Pikun, who was a witness in that student’s case. Together with her the police interrogated another student, who was a member of a chemical coterie. Now he is also under arrest. Thus, the number of suspects increases. May be the law-enforcement agencies consider the involvement of students with the blast as one of the possible versions.
