Local administration interferes with activity of Baranavichy rural district # 7
Officials of Baranavichy administration violate the law by interfering in te activisty of Baranavichy rural district commission. On July 17th BHC member Mikalai Chyzhykau came to the district election commission (room 302 in the building of the district administration). Despite the fact that the opening hours of the office indicated on the door were from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 1 p.m. the office doors were locked. M. Chyzhykau managed to find commission member Maryna Piskun, and asked her for information about the list of commission members. The woman printed the list out and gave it to Chyzhykau. At this moment head of organizational work and staff of the district administration Tatsiana Kanash burst into the room. Kanash is not member of the election commission. However, she literally snatched the paper out of Chyzhykau’s hands and started to yell at Piskun. The official said the information about the current posts of commission members can be provided only by themselves.
This is not the first time Tatsiana Kanash refuses to provide information to observers. Last day before registration of commission members, July 12th, she said the executive committee had no information about potential members of election commissions.
