US Department of State is concerned with closed trial of Emanuel Zeltser

The US Department of State is disappointed with the fact that the trial of the American lawyer Emanuel Zetser is closed and representatives of the American Embassy in Minsk have no possibility to attend it.

It was stated to RFE/RL by the representative of the Department of State Karl Duckworth.

‘We are still extremely concerned with the state of heath of Mr. Zeltser during his long imprisonment. On Monday we contacted the Belarusian representative in Washington to tell him once again our demands which are still awaiting an answer – it concerns the health and medical treatment of Mr. Zeltser.’

‘We are disappointed that the trial will be closed and thus representatives of the American Embassy won’t be able to attend it,’ stated Mr. Duckworth.
