Violations of electoral laws in Vitsebsk

According to part 1 of Article 74 of the Electoral Code of the Republic f Belarus, since the time of their registration candidates to deputies possess the equal right to public appearances at electoral and other meetings, sittings and assemblies, in press, on the state radio and TV.

According to part 11 of Article 48 of the Electoral Code, the use of material aid by a person seeking registration as candidate ensues in registration denial.

Siarhei Siamashka, who is running for parliament at Chyhunachny electoral district #19, continues electoral agitation with the use of his powers of deputy of the Chamber of Representatives. In particular, he organizes so-called ambulatory receptions of citizens. On 12 August such an event took place at Vitsebsk branch #2 of the open stock company Belsuviazbud, on 13 August – at the office of the housing economy of Chyhunachny district of Vitsebsk. For 18 August such a reception is planned in gymnasium #6 and, on 19 August – in secondary school #7 and on 20 August – in secondary school #8. It is quite strange that deputy Siamashka should organize such receptions only now, at the end of his term in the present Chamber of Representatives.

Besides, the electors tell that those who collect signatures in Siamashka’s support do not show any certificates confirming their membership in his initiative group and do not ask for passports. They also try to mislead the electors by telling that they can sing only in support of one candidacy.

The same violations are committed by the persons who collect signatures in support of Alexander Lasiakin running at Kastrychnitskaya electoral district #20 of Vitsebsk.
