Svetlahorsk: no oppositionists at local electoral commissions
In Svetlahorsk district not a single representative of the united democratic forces was included in the local electoral commissions. This information was given to a member of Siarhei Daineka’s initiative group Sviatlana Mikhalchanka by the deputy head of the district electoral commission Uladzimir Kukar.
According to Mikhalchanka, in Salihorsk district the democratic forces nominated one candidate to each of 28 local electoral commissions of the district. 12 of them were nominated by collection of citizens’ signatures (6 members of the Belarusian Popular Front Party and 6 non-partisans). The majority of these candidates had a higher education, including several teachers, vice-schoolmaster and the head of a factory workshop.
Valiantsina Kavaliova, a present deputy of the Chamber of Representatives, is Daineka’s rival at the elections. Before her career as deputy Kavaliova was the deputy head of Svetlahorsk district executive committee.
