Anatol Liabedzka’s apartment is seized for non-payment of fine for European March
On 3 September the leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Liabedzka received a notice saying the court of the Tsentralny district of Minsk seized his apartment, allegedly for his failure to pay penalty for participation in organizing the European March mass action which had was held in Minsk on 14 October 2007.
The court decision says the politician, who has property right to the apartment, ‘it is forbidden to perform any acts with the apartment’.
The court of the Tsentralny district court of Minsk ordered that Anatol Liabedzka paid his debt to legal entities and the state that he failed to pay voluntary, according to the writ.
‘This has all signs of organized and purposeful campaign,’ the politician thinks. Three weeks ago he received a writ informing that on 6 August the Tsentralny district court banned his leaving Belarus. ‘I have no doubts that judge Alena Illina fulfils someone’s order. It was enough to call to Savetski district court to learn al fines had been repaid by the applicants of the European March,’ Anatol Liabedzka said. ‘They also may have got the same information from a phone to the plaintiffs.’
A writ on ban of leaving the country and seizure of the apartment was sent only to the UCP leader. It should be reminded that Alexander Milinkevich, Vintsuk Viachorka, Viktar Ivashkevich, Yauhen Afnahel and Zmitser Khvedaruk were among the applicants for the European March on 14 October 2007.
