There are leaflets on the doors of apartment buildings in Trusava Street (precinct # 20 of Barysau city district # 62) saying that, “under the Election Code of the Republic of Belarus, participation in the election is the OBLIGATION of every citizen of the Republic of Belarus of 18 years and above”.
Meanwhile, Article 5 of the Election Code titled “Free elections and participation in a referendum” says that a voter can decided on his own if to take part in the election or not, and who to vote for.
Residents of Trusava Street are known for their protest moods. During local election in 2007 many of them voted for BPF member Dzmitry Babitski.
