Foreign students of Homel State Medical University strike to protest against racial harassment

Instead of coming to classes, foreign students gathered in the hall of the higher educational establishment and demanded that a meeting with the police was held there. They turned the attention of the administration to facts of hooligan assaults near the hostel where citizens of India lived.
In May one of the students received several knife wounds. The offenders were detained are kept in the pre-trial prison.
As a result of the meeting the police promised that from now on a patrol would keep duty near the hostel. According to the information of the BelaPAN, about 300 students from India, Nepal, Nigeria, Sri-Lanka and other countries of Asia and Africa study at the university.
