Belarus-German round table discussion in Berlin

According to Radio Racyja, today, October 16th, the Berlin-based Bundestag is going to host a Belarus-Germany human rights round table discussion. The meeting is entitled ‘Belarus after the election: time for political dialogue?’ and will be visited by a number of German parliament members.

Belarusian spokesmen include head of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Aleh Hulak, head of human rights organization Viasna Ales Bialiatski, representative of the United Civic Party Yaraslau Ramanchuk and one of the leaders of For Freedom movement Ales Lahvinets.
 
According to Uladzimir Labkovich, the meeting is aimed at informing the world community on the liberalization of Belarus’ official policy.

It should be noted that the discussion was to feature eight representatives of Belarus, however four of them were not granted visas by the German embassy to Minsk. Still, Labkovich says that the decision has a purely technical nature, which can give no grounds for any negative statements.
