Polatsk: youth activists to stand trial for anti-communist action
Reports were drawn up against Polatsk youth activists for they unfurled a national white-red-white flag and an orange flag of the initiative Young Belarus in the city center.
The guys timed their street action to 7 November, by this willing to support an anticommunist youth action in Minsk, RFE/RL reports.
Ales Krutkin said that Siarhei Martyniuk and he had spent about two hours at the police station.
The boys said they protested against the fact, the anniversary of the October take-over is still marked as a state holiday. The police officers put down their explanations and set them free, but said they accused the youth activists of violation of public order. Krutkin and Martyniuk weren’t informed about the date of the trial over them and are not waiting for writs.
Major Ivan Krakhotka was responsible for the detention. He is one of the policemen who questioned local representatives of the pro-opposition youth about activity of the Young Front and the Young Belarus. It should be reminded that Dzianis Khaberau, Zmitser Sakalou, minor Katsiaryna Zhohal and Karen Platonau were questioned last week. Ales Krutkin doesn’t rule out that the police are collecting materials for a criminal case against Polatsk activists.
