Leader of entrepreneurs is suspected in larceny
Anatol Shumchanka, leader of the Perspective republican NGO, is suspected of minor larceny. As A.Shumchanka told to BelaPAN, on 5 December he received a writ from Maskouski district court of Minsk ordering him to appear in court for a trial on charges in minor larceny (article 10.5 part 1 of the Administrative Code on 17 December.
‘The writ was addressed to Shumchanka A.V.,’ the entrepreneur said. ‘But my brother’s name is Alexander, so it was unclear who it was addressed to. I phoned to court and learnt the writ was for me. At 2.30 p.m. 17 December, I allegedly stole a bottle of vinegar of 1 620 rubles (less than $1) in my sleeve from Brest supermarket. They said the documents contained my data and my signature.’
‘I was stricken dumb. It’s not just a mistake, I can’t be so. I will go to court and find out how my signature (if it is really mine) has appeared in documents,’ A.Shumchanka said. If the court finds him guilty, Shumchanka can be fined or arrested.
The March of Entrepreneurs, organized by Perspective, is scheduled for 15 December. The rally is authorized.
