Alexander Haliyeu, Pavel Sapelka and Maryiana Siameshka declared the best lawyers of 2008

Summing up the results of the last year, the independent newspaper Nasha Niva published its rating Persons of the year. Alexander Haliyeu, Pavel Sapelka and Maryiana Siameshka were mentioned in the nomination Attorney of the year.

Bear in mind that there are few lawyers in Belarus who dare to defend the interests of political opponents of Lukashenka. That’s why the work of Alexander Haliyeu, Pavel Sapelka and Maryiana Siameshka cannot be overestimated. ‘Often at trials these lawyers make even more brave statements about the present situation in the country than their defendants. One needs to have a great civil courage for it,’ comments Nasha Niva on its choice of candidacies.
