Belarusian courts ignore UN rulings
Leninski district court of Minsk refused to consider a complaint against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that ignores the UN ruling prescribing the legal rehabilitation of the Civil Initiatives NGO.
The judge of Leninski district court T.Zhulkouskaya refused to bring a case on Viktar Karniyenka’s suit against the MFA, which was to have answered at court, why the activities of Civil Initiatives are still banned.
Instead, the court even decided to “help” the Ministry. ‘Homel oblast public association Civil Initiatives was liquidated by Homel oblast court on 17 June 2003. That’s why the complaint on behalf of Homel oblast public association Civil Initiatives was filed by the person, who had no powers to act on behalf of the public association,’ reads the court ruling.
