The coordinator of the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party in Homel Kanstantsin Zhukouski, who is serving the punishment in a remand prison, has announced a hunger strike.

As the BelaPAN informs, friends have brought warm clothes to him, however workers of the remand prison refused to take juice packs for K.Zhukouski.

On 23 February the activist was sentenced to 7 days of administrative arrest for participation in the rally dedicated to the National Language Day. On 21 February seven activists were on the main street of Homel with posters on their chests with the words ‘Native language’ crossed by the word ‘Prohibited’. Mouths of the participants of the protest were gagged by red-green cloths. The activists were set to attract attention of the public to the problems of the national language. All of them were detained by police. Participants were fined heavily, and K.Zhukouski was sentenced to arrest.

It is not the first arrest for the coordinator of the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy from Homel. During each of them he goes on a hunger strike protesting against illegal arrest.
