Alyaksandr Barazenka remains under house arrest
On March 25, militia officer of the Frunzenski district of Minsk Kisel visited activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Alyaksandr Barazenka at the evening check and said the latter needed to go to the militia department.
The militiaman said he was a probation officer and had the right to detain him at any moment,” Radio Svaboda reports.
Alyaksandr Barazenka told the officer he wouldn’t go to the militia department with him and the officer could call for a militia squad if he wanted. The young man didn’t violated anything, he was at home during the check, and the militia had no grounds to detain him. The militia officer finally went away, and the youth activist remained at home.
Three days ago, the same militia officer beat Alyaksandr Barazenka, who came to the militia department for a check, issued an unlawful warning and changed his schedule so that Barazenka won’t be able to continue working. Inspector Kisel said that Barazenka would be kept under strict supervision on March 25.
It should be reminded that Alyaksandr Barazenka is a participant of the Case of 14, the criminal case, instigated for participation in a peaceful demonstration of entrepreneurs. He was sentenced to one year of restriction of liberty, so he can be either at work or at home. The rights of the convicted are restricted, he must have a permit of militia to go anywhere, he must allow militia in his apartment at any time. If the convicted person has three warnings, a criminal case under article 415 of the Criminal Code of Belarus is instigated that provides for three years of imprisonment.
