Leader of the Salihorsk branch of “Young Front” Ivan Shyla, who didn’t complete secondary education and was forcefully drafted into the army, has been refused the right to education.

Father of the young man wrote to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus asking to allow his son to take a final exam for secondary school and received a negative answer, the websitesaligorsk.org writes.

When Ivan Shyla was drafted into the 29th air defence missile brigade in the Lepel district (the Vitsebsk area), the military command said it wouldn’t be a problem to give the youth activist an opportunity to have the final exam and get the secondary school certificate.

But now the General Staff and the commandment of the military unit say flatly no:

“According to legislation, soldier I. Shyla can’t be given an opportunity to have final school exams for a period from June 1 to June 12.”

Ivan Shyla, as well as Zmitser Khvedaruk, Franak Vyachorka, and other democratic activists, was forcefully called up for military services at a rapid pace. Ivan Shyla was expelled from school last year for his political activity. He wasn’t allowed to have a final exam in English. A number of the EU countries offered Ivan Shyla to finish education abroad, but the guy decided to stay in Belarus.
