Vadzim Kanapatski filed complaint to prosecutor’s office
The deputy head of Minsk city organization of the BPF Party Vadzim Kanapatski, unlawfully detained on the eve of 7 May action, has filed a complaint to Tsentralny district prosecutor’s office against the unlawful actions of the police officers.
Mr. Kanapatski was detained in Masherau Avenue not far from the Academy of Internal Affairs, allegedly for ‘identification’, though he had his passport with him. He was guarded to Tsentralny district police department, where the policemen put down his data and demanded that he signed an official warning about inadmissibility of law violations during mass actions. Vadzim Kanapatski demanded that they explained the reasons for his detention, but did not receive an answer. Then he was taken into a separate room for being videoed. Vadzim refused referring to unlawfulness of such actions. Then one of the policemen started threatening him with composing a violation report under Article 17.1 of the Administrative Code (disorderly conduct). Vadzim Kanapatski was videoed without his agreement.
In his complaint the activist demands to conduct a check-up on the fact of his detention, give a legal evaluation to the actions of the police officers and punish the persons guilty of his unlawful detention.
