Hrodna oblast court turned down Ivan Kruk’s appeal

Hrodna oblast court left in force the ruling of Astravets district court by which Ivan Kruk, activist of the civil initiative Astravets nuclear power station is a crime, was fined 700 000 rubles for distribution of printed editions.

‘The oblast court ignored a number of process violations that had been made during the trial at Astravetski district court. In particular, I did not distribute printed editions, as it was written in the police report. In addition, these editions cannot be considered as periodicals according to the present law on press,’ commented the activist.

Ivan Kruk intends to appeal the court verdict at the Supreme Court and the UN Human Rights Committee. He is sure that the state violates his constitutional rights in this case.
