Riot police detained Young Front activists Mikalai Dzemidzenka and Marharyta Karol. The young oppositionists tried to unfurl a banner near the Russia’s embassy in Minsk, RFE/RL reports.
Policemen tried to take away the banner. They dragged Dzemidzenka with the banner and then detain him. There’s no information about the text of the banner. Police officers called for riot policemen who took the detained to the Tsentralny district police department.
Mikalai Dzemidzenka managed to tell RFE/RL the aim of the picket was attracting attention to the Day of Belarusian Military Glory, celebrated on 8 September, and Belarus-Russia relations that threaten the independence of our country.
