Valiantsin Sukala refused to discuss judicial runarounds with women’s initiative for the fifth time
On 2 November the head of the Supreme Court Valiantsin Sukala for the first time refused to discuss the problem of judicial runarounds with a group of women who disagreed with the court verdicts on civil and criminal cases against themselves or their relatives.
According to the resident of Minsk Liudmila Hancharova, on 2 November 20 women from all regions of Belarus but Hrodna region came to the monthly audience of Mr. Sukala. ‘It was our fifth attempt for the last five months to meet with the head of the Supreme Court. We again got a refusal,’ stated Hancharova. According to her, the refusal was motivated by the postponement of the date of the monthly audience. However, the officers of the court reception refused to tell the women the date when the audience will take place.
The women have been received runarounds from officers of the Supreme Court to their review complaints for many years already. ‘Sukala does not want to discuss the problem of runarounds with us. On 17 September the head of the presidential administration Uladzimir Makei did not accept representatives of the group for discussing this issue. That’s why on 5 November we are going to the president’s aide Siarhei Tkachou,’ Hancharova said.
The processing engineer Liudmila Hancharova has two children (10 and 11 years old). On 30 March 2001 she was dismissed from the open stock company Amkador for absence at the working place for more than three hours without a good excuse. ‘In fact, I was not absent from the job, as the head of the engineering department of the enterprise gave me the document for participation in the general assembly of stockholders of Amkador,’ said Volha Hancharova. She has spent eight years trying to get reinstated at her job, as on 3 January 2001 Savetski district court of Minsk turned down her complaint. On 25 September 2009 the General Prosecutor’s office issued a protest against the verdict of the district court. However, the presidium of Minsk city court declined this protest, the BelaPAN informs.
