Detentions of Vitsebsk oppositionist and distributor of independent press are getting regular.

According to RFE/RL, policemen detain Barys Khamaida and place to the Chyhynachny district police department of Vitsebsk.

On 16 November Barys Khamajda was detained near the so-called ‘Blue House’, Lenin Street, 28 to which he comes on labor days, opens a huge white-red-white umbrella and places newspapers and books for display.

The oppositionist was also detained on 11 and 14 November. As said by Khamaida, policemen explained him the reasons for the detention laconically: ‘We’ve got an order and we are at service’.

During the previous detentions no charges were given to Mr. Khamaida. However, the police attentively looked through the newspapers and books he sells: Nasha Niva newspaper, ARCHE magazine and books about the history of Belarus.
